Janeiro Abia is my name. Born in the interior of Suriname in the Sipaliwini district. There my grandfather taught me as a young boy to make original Surinamese wood carvings. Over the years I have developed the art of making all kinds of hot carvings into highly sought after works of art. Renowned hotels, such as Courtyard by Marriott, politicians (vice president, chairman of parliament) and celebrities are in possession of wood carvings made by me.
